* Please arrive 15 minutes prior to
your designated time. Skills Assessment
The Skills Assessment is required for all players in
the Mustang, Bronco, Pony, and Colt Divisions. The Skills Assessment is
required for new players to a division in the Pigtail,
Feather, Galaxy, and Delta divisions. Skills Assessment is not
required for T-Ball, Coach Pitch I, and Coach Pitch II players (teams are assembled by the Division
Director).
The purpose of the Skills Assessment is to evaluate players skills so that we can:
- ensure that the player is signed up for the appropriate division;
- form balanced teams;
The Skills Assessment is NOT for the purpose of "cutting"
any players.The Skills Assessment consists of each player doing a short timed run,
hitting 5-7 balls pitched from a pitching machine, fielding 3-4 fly balls and
making a throw to second base, and fielding 3-5 ground balls at shortstop and
making a throw to first base. There is also an optional
station where players throw 5-10 pitches to an adult catcher. The total Skills
Assessment
process takes about an hour. Please bring a bat, a glove and wear
appropriate baseball attire (No spikes, please). Unless the league informs you otherwise, you
may assume that your child will play in the division that you request on your
application. In some cases, based on the Skills Assessment results, safety considerations, or
available roster openings, the League will call you to suggest an alternate
placement for your child.
